Root Canal Therapy
Root canal therapy is also known as endodontic treatment. Root canal therapy is required when tooth decay has gone through the outer enamel layer and infected the nerve of the tooth. It is sometimes also needed when the nerve has been affected by trauma.
Our goal is to save your natural teeth and avoid extractions. When removing natural teeth, gaps will be left which cause the other teeth to compensate for these open spaces. It can then affect your bite and cause other problems.
Dependent upon the condition of your tooth, root canal therapy can be a great way to maintain your natural tooth long-term. Following root canal therapy, our office would either seal your tooth with a small composite filling, or place a crown over the tooth to protect the remaining natural tooth.
